April’s Favorite Things
April has been a month of some changes in the Click house, first of which is that my youngest son has gone gluten free. This is an experimental move on my part to see if gluten and other wheat properties may be adding to his Tourette's Syndrome. April’s list of favorites is heavily influenced by our gluten free journey.
We are currently cooking with all-purpose flour blend by the “gluten-free girl” Shauna James Ahern and her husband Dan Ahern. glutenfreegirl.com We love this blend and it is used in equal measure to regular all-purpose flour.
Two websites that have helped me on this gluten-free journey are glutenfreegirl.com and minimalistbaker.com
I recently read Wheat Belly by William Davis MD. This book is touted as a weight loss book, but really is about the inflammation caused by wheat and its properties (including but not limited to gluten) and how it leads to disease and neurological impairment.
I just ordered Celiac Disease: A Hidden Epidemic by Peter H. R. Green, MD. I will review it for you next month.
I am currently listening to The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry by Rachel Joyce, on Audible.com. I love Audible.com! It is the easiest, most affordable way to get audiobooks with excellent reviews and samples before you buy. This book is narrated by Jim Broadbent, and quite enjoyable so far.
I recently ordered some essential oil blends from annmariegianni.com. She offers a great variety of essential oil blends as well as organic skin care, makeup and body care products. My favorite blend is “Love”.
